While I was hapū with our mātāmua, our eldest, I cut this papercut by hand.
Slow and attentive to the process while I struggled to fathom the life taking shape within me. The manifestation of our tūpuna's, wildest dreams. The living face of their whakapapa. The stitching together of dna and dreams, woven through eons, unfurling and intertwining to be born into a new age. Cocooned and nourished in kowhaiwhai imagined threads of whakapapa and emerging into te ao mārama. On the shoulders of all who've fought, endured, nurtured and lived before her.
By popular request we now offer it to you as a celebration of the infinite miracle of the whare tangata. Of conception. Of Whakapapa. Of remembering and cherishing and hoping.
This Papercut is cut by Laser onto white acid free lightly textured 240gsm paper.
Available in two sizes, Iti and Nui.

We framed ours in this floating frame that we found off the shelf at Bed Bath and Beyond, the 50cm x 40cm frame is the one photographed above and comfortably fits the Nui, the Iti cut will fit within the 26x21cm frame. Just be sure to be gentle cleaning the stock image before you add your papercut. If you happen to spot other framing options we'd love to hear!
