These are attributes that are indivisible from our whakapapa, the mana wahine who have passed the baton on to us, and the heart with which we continue their legacies. We named this dress with the intent that it carries you with confidence, resilience and ease in the mahi that you do and the spaces you occupy.
This dress is a comfortable boxy fit with loose sleeve that can be either folded up to a cuff or left flat. With belt-loops at the waist and a fabric tie, this dress can be cinched in at the waist, tied at the reverse or left loose.
This garment is designed to be reversible- wear it with the flattering v-shaped neckline, or reverse the dress for around neckline. This dress also has the roomiest most comfortable and practical pockets you could wish for hidden in-seam at the hip.
Our garments are designed with comfort, form and function in mind. We have created a generous fit that allows this garment to carry you with confidence through life’s seasons and natural fluctuations.
Material
85% Certified Organic Cotton, 15% Indian Flax Linen
This fabric has a natural slightly textured hand feel which will become more evident when it is washed. Heavy enough to not require a slip underneath in the warmer months, but light enough to be breathable and great for layering during the colder seasons.
Certified organic cotton is grown without the use of synthetic fertilizers or hazardous pesticides, which protects biodiversity and waterways and builds and maintains soil fertility.
Both Cotton and Linen from the flax plant are sustainable, renewable and biodegradable fibres.
Design: It tingles in your spine, clothes you in goosebumps, sets your hair on end. This vital, essential, elemental energy that reverberates throughout te ao Māori. This design, a response and visual exploration of that energy, those rhythms, frequency and reverberations.
