As we, as a country and a whānau, grow our knowledge of Matariki and create new traditions and rhythms around this season, we set out to create some visual cues to set the tone and intent and anticipation within our home.
We dreamt up our Matariki bunting as something that can be bought out year after year, layering tradition and memories, festivity and nostalgia and a little whimsy. Something that can set the tone for gathering, resting, nourishing relationships and cosmic imagining.
Designed inhouse and made by our whānau with much care and aroha in Tāmaki, Aotearoa, these bunting flags are 2.4 metres long, with 9 'flags'.
